RingCentral Fax Review

Introduction

RingCentral offers a full-featured fax solution as part of its online suite of communications services.

Whether at your desk or on the road, you have complete control of and access to fax documents on the RingCentral system. If you are using a smartphone with email capability, you can send and view faxes in the palm of your hand.

Plans and Features

RingCentral Fax offers three levels of service, all at competitive monthly rates. Savings can be realized by paying on an annual basis. Plans include 500, 1000, or 1500 minutes of fax activity, which are roughly equal to actual document pages. It is assumed one page takes approximately one minute to send. Additional page capacity can be purchased in one-page segments.

You are provided your choice of a local or toll-free number. If you already have a fax number, it may be possible to transfer it to your new RingCentral account. The number will be answered at RingCentral, and your fax will be received, stored as a document file and you will be notified by email, text or through RingCentral’s Call Controller application running on your computer.

Using this service eliminates the need for a dedicated phone line, toner/ink, paper, machine maintenance or replacement. Using RingCentral is secure. Your information is transferred using secure connections online.

Fax From Email

Faxing from email is as easy as attaching a file. You simply type the recipient’s fax machine number followed by @rcfax.com. For international faxing you follow the same rules, but precede the number with + and the country code. Then attach your file and send. You can send one email fax to multiple fax recipients.

Over 40 file formats are supported for outbound faxing. Inbound faxes are stored on RingCentral’s servers in either TIF or PDF format.

Editing Faxes – an important consideration

RingCentral includes a Fax Editor with your account. You can use it to preview and print faxes, design your own coversheets and annotate or sign faxes electronically. RingCentral provides instructions on how to convert faxes you have received in the PDF format so you can make edits using the Fax Editor software.

Best of both worlds. Use your machine, if you want.

It is possible to use an existing fax machine to send or receive faxes. This requires the purchase of a DigitalLine and and ATA device. Your fax machine will then work in conjunction with the online fax system. There are several ways to configure how the two will work together.
